university lecturer | Tabriz University of Medical Sciences | Iran

Dr. Leila Yousefi is an accomplished Iranian microbiologist specializing in medical bacteriology and infectious diseases, with strong expertise in Helicobacter pylori pathogenesis, antibiotic resistance, and biofilm formation. She earned her B.Sc. in Cellular and Molecular Biology–Microbiology from Islamic Azad University, Zanjan Branch, followed by an M.Sc. in Medical Microbiology from Tabriz University of Medical Sciences, where her thesis focused on H. pylori virulence factors (iceA, oipA, babA2, and sabA genes). She completed her Ph.D. in Medical Bacteriology at the same university with a dissertation on the evaluation of CRISPR-like sequences and the spoT gene among H. pylori isolates and their link to antibiotic resistance and biofilm formation . Dr. Yousefi has extensive teaching experience at the University College of Nabi Akram and Islamic Azad University (Marand Branch), instructing courses in virology, bacteriology, immunology, and microbiology for B.Sc. students. Her research interests include bacterial genomics, molecular mechanisms of pathogenesis, antimicrobial resistance, nanotechnology in diagnostics, and CRISPR-based microbial studies. She possesses strong technical skills in microbial culture, MIC assays, PCR, real-time PCR, cDNA synthesis, electrophoresis, primer design, and data analysis using SPSS and EndNote. Dr. Yousefi has published 13 scientific papers in peer-reviewed journals such as Clinica Chimica Acta, Heliyon, and Biointerface Research in Applied Chemistry, with several studies on H. pylori, Streptococcus mutans, and novel nanosensors for oral cancer biomarker detection. She has presented her work at numerous international and national microbiology congresses and serves as a reviewer for multiple journals. Her commitment to advancing biomedical microbiology has earned her recognition within Iran’s scientific community. She has achieved (218 Citations ,  13 Documents, 6 h-index.
